Less distractions

Have you seen the information on Facebook and the Gilbert Media Group business page about J. Karl Brewick? In no time at all people will line up and say "Hey, I knew that guy way back when..." Cool thing is that all of us: Gideon, Michelle and Jenny, can say that and back it up with the blog archive (check it out, he's already been mentioned a few times!). We know Karl as a great guy and a friend but it's neat to get to see him in a different way too, as an artist. We've been on the phone during some of those long drawn-out editing sessions late at night. We've heard him have some serious talks with Reggie (it is NOT okay to eat his gear or torment the cats, Reggie).

In a lot of ways he is doing something that many people never will: he is pursuing what he is passionate about as a career. It's something to admire even if you don't know him at all. If you take a look at some of his work and see the creativity behind what he shoots, and how he does it (no, really - how DO you do some of that stuff, Karl?) you may understand what the rest of us around him already know. It is a special thing to watch unfold and we are lucky to have him here in Chicago right now. Jenny has a picture of his up on her office door. It is a picture of asparagus. Yes, you read that correctly: asparagus. It is symbolic of their friendship somehow. Something about the title of this blog post too - "less distractions" means something. It could be a philosophical way of creating the art itself (with less distractions), or it could just be what it is ;)

If you know anyone on Facebook or beyond, please share the information about Karl's work from the group page here (click for link to page). The unique limited edition prints at Pressure Cafe are available for purchase. Join the group, share the info, support a local artist and good friend.
